Kidnapper Cliffs ARIKI 2007
A blend of merlot and cabernet franc. Sweet fruit with a medley of dark berry, chocolate, licorice, violet and star anise flavours. Linear and long with a backbone of fine, ripe glycerol-coated tannins. Supple yet powerful wine.
Gourmet Traveller Wine – Feb/March 2011
5 Stars, 96/100
Medium-deep red in colour, this is made from 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc, and is riper and richer red than the 2008. The nose is superbly ripe and lifted displaying blackberry, cedar, spice and floral characters. It's opulent and generously flavoured on the palate with a plump mouthfeel and plenty of supple tannins. The wine is impressively concentrated and broad yet remains tightly structured with well extracted tannins. At its best: 2012 to 2018. Tasted not blind.
